Plage du Lido
France · Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
The Lido beach at Lake Bourget, in Savoie, is a popular spot for local kitefoilers and windsurfers. Located on the shores of the largest natural lake in France, it offers a pleasant setting with its grass for takeoff and round pebbles for entering the water.
It is a place that attracts a local crowd in summer, with a calm atmosphere outside of busy weekends. The spot works well with north wind, in a lake environment without tides.
Close to Aix-les-Bains, it combines easy access and conditions typical of alpine lakes.

The Lido beach spot mainly works with a north or northwest wind, which comes side-on or side-shore relative to the south-facing beach. Takeoff is done on the well-exposed grass, just behind the beach, making sessions easier even in light wind.
Entry into the water is done on round pebbles, not too difficult to cross, but be careful of the concrete breakwaters that protect the beach and delimit the navigation area. The riding area extends offshore on the lake, with a water surface that remains wide and clear as long as you stay away from swimming and motorized navigation zones.
No tides since it is a lake, so the water surface is constant, but there can be significant boat traffic in summer, especially in the afternoon. Prefer mornings for a peaceful ride. The wind is often thermal during the day, reinforced by the northern bise, and the spot is ideal for freestyle or foil in flat water.
