The sailing conditions at Soma Bay are exceptional and varied depending on the time of day. In the morning, the wind blows in side-off to offshore, completely flattening the water and creating ideal gliding conditions. Around 11 a.m., the wind gradually turns to side-shore, becoming more regular and stable for the rest of the day. This natural evolution of the wind allows riders to enjoy optimal conditions from morning to evening.
The water surface itself is flat in the morning, slightly choppy in the afternoon depending on conditions. The vast lagoon offers a depth varying between ankle-deep and mid-thigh depending on the tides, making it a safe playground for beginners. Advanced riders have an infinite freeride area with crystal clear turquoise water. The launch is easy and direct from the beaches or the kitesurfing centers located on site.
Soma Bay also allows for excursions to Tobia Island, a small sandy island surrounded by turquoise water located less than 4 kilometers from the spot. In the morning, the offshore wind conditions often encourage downwinds to this paradise island. The spot is perfect for slalom, freeride, and freestyle, with varied conditions depending on the time of day.
