Playa Taganga
Colombia · Magdalena
Located just 15 minutes from the center of Santa Marta, the village of Taganga is a small fishing port surrounded by mountains, famous for its bohemian atmosphere and spectacular underwater scenery. Less known for kitesurfing, it still offers a spectacular and intimate setting for riders in search of an original spot. The wind blows in a sheltered bay, creating a striking contrast between the turquoise sea, arid hills, and colorful fishing boats. Taganga is not a performance spot, but a sensory experience, where sailing meets local culture, grand sunsets, and an almost timeless atmosphere.

The wind enters the bay in a side-onshore (from the right) manner, often channeled by the surrounding relief. This creates irregular wind near the shore but more stable as you move away. The water surface is choppy, sometimes slightly wavy depending on the wind strength. The launch area is narrow and dotted with boats, which imposes a minimum intermediate level for safe navigation. Once offshore, the setting becomes magical: turquoise sea, desert mountains, peaceful atmosphere, and clean wind.
