Salvador

To the north of Salvador de Bahia, between the Itapuã neighborhood and the long Stella Maris beach, lies one of the best urban spots in northeastern Brazil. Here, you navigate in the heart of a contrasting setting: buildings in the background, beach lined with palm trees, exposed reefs at low tide, and turquoise waters under the tropical sun. It is a spot that is both lively, technical, and accessible, where local riders, surfers, joggers, and families come together to enjoy the wind. Stella Maris is the most popular beach for kiting: vast, open, ideally oriented for the east wind. Itapuã, further south, offers a more local and roots atmosphere, with calmer sections between the reefs.

These are two complementary spots: Stella Maris for powerful freeride sessions and small jumps. Itapuã for light surfkiting and relaxed navigation between natural pools. It’s the perfect spot for those who want to kite without leaving the city, while enjoying an exotic and colorful setting.

Standort

Detaillierte Informationen

The east to southeast wind, side-on, blows between 16 and 25 knots from July to January, often reinforced by local thermal breezes.

The water surface varies with the tide. At low tide, the reefs create flat water basins close to the shore, perfect for freestyle and beginners. At medium tide, the water becomes regularly choppy, with flat areas between the waves. At high tide, the swell rises and offers beautiful waves of 1 to 2 meters, perfect for surfkiting. The sandy bottom and the absence of sharp corals in the navigation areas ensure good safety, even for intermediate riders. The wide beaches facilitate takeoff and landing, even at high tide. The conditions are ideal for dynamic freeride, surfkite, and big air: strong wind, warm water, and endless space.
