Audierne

The beach of Audierne, located in the bay of the same name in Brittany, offers a setting protected by dikes with a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean. It is a spot favored by kiters for its easy access from the town and its lively atmosphere in season.

The beach is lined with fine sand to the west where there are some rocks, while the jetties protect the navigation area from large swells. Locals often come here for quiet sessions when the wind settles.

Close to Pointe de la Torche, this spot remains more accessible and less exposed than its mythical neighbors in the region.

معلومات مفصلة

The spot works best with a wind from the southwest, which blows side-shore relative to the northwest-facing beach, providing good power without too much drift. The water entry is directly from the sandy beach, easy even for beginners, with a wide launch area in the center of the bay.

The navigation area is protected by the dikes (mole), which limits the waves to moderate chop or small waves, even in strong wind. Be cautious of areas near the rocks to the west and east near the jetties where space tightens. Depending on the tides, the water remains navigable but more technical at low tide where the bottom is exposed in places.

Kitesurfers share the water with windsurfers and sometimes surfers, especially when the west-southwest swell comes in. Prefer morning sessions to avoid the crowd and the dominant west wind in the afternoon which can become onshore and irregular.
