Lagoa Parajuru
Brazil · Ceará
Parajuru is a gem on the east coast of Ceará. About thirty kilometers south of Fortim, this small fishing village hides an absolutely exceptional kitesurfing spot: the lagoon formed by the mouth of the Rio Pirangi. It is a unique place where the sea and the river meet to create a vast flat water area, surrounded by dunes and mangroves, with a steady and warm wind. Unlike most open sea spots, here, navigation takes place in a protected lagoon, with colors changing according to the tide. Freestylers from around the world come here to train, but the place remains peaceful, far from mass tourism. Parajuru is the perfect flat, in a natural and wild setting — a place where every session feels suspended in time.

The Lagoons of the Rio Pirangi is an ultra-complete spot, modulated by the tides. At high tide, the water covers the sandbanks and becomes perfectly flat, ideal for freestyle and big air. At medium tide, the surface remains flat to slightly choppy, with deeper areas in the center. At low tide, some parts empty out, but secondary pools form, always navigable.
The side-onshore wind, from east to southeast, blows between 18 and 25 knots, perfectly regular and laminar. The sandy bottom and shallow depth ensure total safety. It’s an ideal spot to progress with confidence, learn transitions, attempt tricks, or simply enjoy the pleasure of gliding in butter. Outside, the sea offers a second navigation area, more choppy, for those who want to combine flat and freeride in the same day.
