Informations utiles
The spot mainly works with wind from the north, which comes in side-shore relative to the north-facing beach, perfect for stable riding. The thermal wind picks up around 1 PM and blows until 8 PM, stronger and more consistent than on the coast but sometimes a bit gusty. With south wind, it is side-on or onshore, softer and laminar, ideal for large kites.
The launch area is wide and shallow near the edge, with water at standing depth for several dozen meters, suitable for beginners. The riding area offers flat close to the shore for freestyle and learners, then chop offshore once out. Launching is done directly on the grassy or sandy beach, with no major obstacles, and the space is vast without competition.
The surrounding terrain channels the wind for more consistency. On soft days, expect 15-20 knots, and on strong days up to 25-35 knots. A webcam is available to check conditions live.
Ideal conditions are north side-shore wind at 20-30 knots for perfect flat, or laminar south for stress-free freestyle sessions.
The water is mostly flat near the shore, ideal for tricks, with moderate chop in the center when the wind picks up. The descent to the water is very gentle, with no need for booties.
As a reservoir, there are no sea currents or tides. The water is calm with no notable flows, even near the banks.
Opt for kite sizes from 10m to smaller in strong north wind, and large kites like 12-14m in light south wind.
The wind is thermal, predominantly from the north in the afternoon, with strengths of 15-20 knots on calm days and 25-35 knots on strong days. From the south, it is more consistent at 12-17 knots, without gusts. Wind turbines turning north signal the arrival of the wind.
The climate is continental with cold winters around 5°C and mild summers averaging 18°C. The spot is rideable year-round, with no seasonal restrictions related to bathers. The most stable months are from spring to autumn, but the thermal wind ensures sessions even in winter.
La profondeur est progressive et faible près du bord avec un fond sableux, on a pied jusqu'à 50m ou plus de la rive.
Temperatures range from 5-8°C in winter to 15-18°C in summer. A full wetsuit is recommended outside the warm season.
