Conditions de navigation

The Chalupy spot works well with winds from E, S, and W, which are generally side-shore relative to the north-facing beach. An east wind blows side-on perfect for freestyle, while south and west bring moderate chop ideal for freeride. The navigation area is wide in Puck Bay, with enough space to maneuver without risking the Baltic Sea on the other side of the peninsula.

Launching is done directly from the sandy beach, easy even for intermediates. The takeoff area is clear, but be cautious of schools and marked lesson zones. In high season, the spot is crowded, prefer zones 3 to 6 for more space. Local peculiarity: the bay is sheltered from strong north winds but can become choppy with gusts from the southwest.

Ideal conditions are a side-shore east wind at 12-18 knots, stable and without excessive gusts. Force 9-15 m/s for smooth sessions in flat water.

État de la mer

The water surface is generally flat to chop with an east wind, perfect for tricks. From the south or west, it becomes more choppy with short small waves. The bottom is sandy with some rocks in places.

Courants marins

Currents are weak in Puck Bay, thanks to its sheltered nature. Tides are minimal in the Baltic Sea, with little impact on navigation. No major channel reported, but caution is advised near the passes to the open sea.

Taille de kite recommandée

Opt for sizes of 9 to 12 m² in typical conditions of 10-20 knots. 7-9 m² for strong days, 11-13 m² when it's light.

Météo & vent

The wind regime is consistent in season, with frequent sessions of 10-20 knots. No specific local name, but the prevailing winds come from the east and south in summer, bringing stability. Forecasts show a high wind score year-round according to data, but reality confirms May-September as optimal.

Climat

The climate is temperate continental, with mild summers from June to August around 20-25°C and cold winters dropping to 0°C or below. The best time to kite is from May to September, with long and stable days. Spring and autumn are windy but cool, around 10-15°C.

Profondeur

La profondeur est progressive avec un fond majoritairement sableux. On a pied sur une bonne distance depuis le bord, idéal pour les redécollages.

Température de l’eau

In summer (June-August), the water is around 18-22°C, comfortable in a shorty. Spring and autumn around 10-15°C, 5/3 mm wetsuit required. Very cold winter below 5°C.
