The water temperature in Texel varies significantly by season. In winter (November to March), the water is very cold, around 4 to 8°C, requiring a thick 4/3 mm wetsuit or more. In spring and autumn (April-May and September-October), the temperature rises to 10 to 15°C, allowing for the use of a 3/2 mm wetsuit.
In summer (June to August), the water warms up to 15 to 18°C, making it possible to use a thinner wetsuit or even a shorty for cold-tolerant riders. It is always recommended to wear thermal protection, even in summer, due to the unpredictable nature of the weather in North Holland.
