Conditions de navigation

Nyali Beach offers very variable conditions depending on the tide. At low tide, the lagoon becomes flat and ideal for beginners and freestyle, with limited but sufficient depth for progression. At high tide, the water becomes more agitated and choppy, the beach significantly narrows, and the waves from the outer reef become more accessible for experienced riders.

The wind is generally side-shore to side-on, which facilitates take-offs and landings on the wide sandy beach. Ideal wind directions include NE, E, SE, and S, especially during monsoon seasons. Launching is easy from the wide beach, but be cautious of the reduced space at high tide. Currents can be pronounced near channels and reef passages, requiring some vigilance.

Ideal conditions at Nyali Beach are between 15 and 25 knots with a side-shore to side-on wind. The Kaskazi (NE, December to April) offers stable and consistent winds of 15 to 20 knots, perfect for beginners and freestyle in flat lagoon. The Kuzi (SE, June to September) generates stronger winds, 20 to 25 knots, ideal for intermediate and advanced riders looking for waves on the reef.

État de la mer

The water conditions at Nyali Beach are highly dependent on the tide. At low tide, the lagoon offers flat and smooth water, perfect for safe progression. At high tide, the water becomes choppy and agitated, with more pronounced waves on the outer reef. The reef that protects the lagoon creates an interesting transition zone for riders looking to progress to the waves.

Courants marins

Currents at Nyali Beach are generally moderate, but they can become more pronounced near channels and reef passages. The tide strongly influences conditions: at low tide, the current is weaker and predictable, while at high tide, it intensifies and can create turbulent areas. It is recommended to be well aware of the tide cycles before heading out.

Taille de kite recommandée

Recommended kite sizes vary according to conditions and your level. For light Kaskazi winds (15-20 knots), prefer kites of 12 to 14 m². For stronger Kuzi winds (20-25 knots), kites of 9 to 11 m² will be more suitable. Beginner riders will benefit from a slightly larger kite for more control in flat lagoon.

Météo & vent

Nyali Beach benefits from two distinct wind regimes. The Kaskazi (NE monsoon, December to April) brings stable and consistent winds of 15 to 20 knots, ideal for beginners and freestyle. The Kuzi (SE monsoon, June to September) generates stronger winds, often between 20 to 25 knots, perfect for waves and advanced riders. These two periods constitute the best seasons for riding at Nyali.
