Grevelingendam
Grevelingendam is a kitesurfing spot located on the dike of the Grevelingenmeer, in the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands. It consists of two small practice areas, on the other side of the dike from the famous Brouwersdam. It is a discreet place appreciated for its flat water ideal for tricks.
Launching takes place on a grassy lawn, and access to the water is through stones that require a bit of caution. A restaurant is available nearby to relax after the session.
The Oosterschelde spot, smaller, is only navigable at high tide, but remains limited in space.

Informations utiles
The spot mainly works with east winds for the Grevelingenmeer area, coming in side-shore or side-on depending on the exact position on the dike. For Grevelingendam Zuid, south to west winds are optimal, with a flat water surface perfect for freestyle and tricks. Launching takes place from a narrow beach, walking on stones, which is not ideal but offers calm water in return.
The navigation area is small, separated from windsurfers on the eastern part. At high tide, the sandy space almost disappears, making technical take-off challenging; prefer south-west winds in this case. The western part of the area is prohibited for launching, and no kiting in front of the harbor or in the nature reserve to the south. Launching on grass is practical and safe outside prohibited areas.
Sessions are short due to the limited size, ideal for training. For beginners, it's better to go to Brouwersdam because of the stones here.
The winds N, NNE, NE, east, W, south to west are perfect, in side-shore for a smooth water surface. Ideal strength between 15-25 kts for all disciplines.
The water is generally choppy to moderate, but flat in sheltered areas for perfect freestyle conditions. The depth allows standing close to the shore.
Currents are weak in the salt lake of Grevelingenmeer. On the Oosterschelde, be careful of the tides that strongly influence the navigable space, with high tide at about 1.4 m and low at 0.3 m.
Opt for sizes 9 to 11 m² in moderate winds, and 7 to 9 m² when it blows hard. Suitable for beginners to advanced.
The wind regime is regular due to the exposed position of Grevelingenmeer. The directions east, south, west dominate, with average strengths of 15-25 kts in season. No specific local name, but summer thermal winds enhance the sessions.
The climate of Zeeland is oceanic, with moderate temperatures year-round. The mild winters around 3-8°C and cool summers at 15-20°C make it a spot open 12 months. The best months cover the entire year according to forecasts, with reliable wind.
La profondeur est progressive avec un fond sableux et pierreux près du bord. On a pied sur une bonne distance.
Water temperatures range from 3-8°C in winter to 15-20°C in summer in this salt lake.
