Siros
Komito Beach, on the island of Syros in the Cyclades, is a fine sandy beach bordered by a lively bar and an enchanting setting. It is a little-known spot for kiters but appreciated by locals for its crystal-clear water and relaxed atmosphere. Poseidonia, the nearby village, offers easy access with its taverns and views of the Aegean Sea.
The spot is located on the southern coast of the island, exposed to the Meltemi winds that sweep through the Cyclades in season. The beach stretches over a modest length, ideal for a session without excessive crowds.

Informations utiles
The best conditions occur with winds from N, SSW, SW, NW, WNW, W, NNW, or S, often side-shore or side-on relative to the south-facing beach. The water surface is generally choppy, with open navigation areas in front of the beach but limited by the bay's configuration. Launching is done directly from the sand, easy even for intermediates, while the take-off area is wide in the center of the beach. Be cautious of lateral areas where the wind can become onshore and gusty in the afternoon. The Meltemi typically strengthens in the afternoon, increasing from 15 kts to more if the regime is stable.
Ideal conditions are winds of 15-25 kts from the directions N, SSW, SW, NW, WNW, W, NNW, S, preferably side-shore for a rideable water surface without excessive chop.
The state of the water is choppy most of the time, with clear water but sometimes disturbed by the open fetch. No significant waves except in strong south-west winds.
Currents are generally weak in the bay but can intensify near rocky points. Tides in the Aegean are minimal, with no major impact on navigation.
For wind at 15 kts, opt for sizes 11-13m². In stronger conditions up to 25 kts, 9-11m² are perfect for intermediate and advanced riders.
The dominant wind regime is the Meltemi, blowing from the north to northwest in summer, with regular strengths around 15-25 kts. At Komito Beach, thermal winds add in the afternoon, making sessions more consistent. The current score of 50/100 indicates average conditions at 15 kts.
