Flügge Strand, on the island of Fehmarn in Schleswig-Holstein, is a fine sandy beach bordered by the Baltic Sea. It is a popular spot for kiters due to its wide space and easy access from the nearby campsite.
The setting is simple and family-friendly, with an unobstructed view of the sea and a calm atmosphere outside of strong wind sessions. Locals often come here for regular sessions without excessive crowds.
Close to the west coast of the island, it offers a good compromise between easy sailing and the windy conditions typical of the region.

The Flügge Strand spot works well with wind coming from SW, WSW, W, WNW, and NW, blowing in a side-shore or side-on direction relative to the north-facing beach. The riding area is wide with shallow water near the shore, ideal for launching and taking off directly from the sandy beach.
The water surface is generally chop with small waves in strong winds, but remains manageable for jibes and freestyle. No major tidal influence, so conditions remain consistent throughout the day. Beware of more exposed areas offshore where the chop can intensify.
In case of dominant west wind, the spot is perfect for long sessions; depressions bring variable strengths, but the island offers other nearby spots if the wind turns too offshore.
Ideal conditions are a side-shore wind from W to NW at 15-25 knots, stable and without excessive gusts. Perfect for small freestyle or wave sessions.
The water surface features chop and small waves, especially in strong winds. The water is shallow near the beach, with a clean sandy bottom.
