The wind data shown here comes from ERA5 (via Open-Meteo) over 4 years, reprocessed to reflect realistic conditions.
👉 Average wind has been calibrated to avoid the usual underestimation of models.
👉 Gusts have been corrected by a median ratio to avoid unrealistic extreme values.
👉 Each day is summarized by the median wind (P50) observed during useful hours (8am–8pm), then classified into wind ranges.

Riding conditions

The main wind comes from the EAST, in a side shore direction relative to the southeast-facing beach, providing consistent and predictable power for sessions. In winter, it typically blows between 15 and 25 knots, perfect for taking off effortlessly from the large grassy area dedicated to kitebeach.

Launching is done directly from the sandy beach in the protected lagoon, with a vast navigation area where you can stand almost everywhere. Beginners stay in the calm lagoon, while intermediates and advanced riders can aim for the deeper area near the coral barrier for surfkiting on small waves.

To go offshore, take the main channel or go over the reef, but only if you are experienced. The water remains flat to chop in the lagoon regardless of the tide, with little impact from tides on navigability thanks to the large area of the spot.

Ideal conditions are a side shore EAST wind between 15 and 25 knots, stable and without gusts, to fully enjoy the lagoon without stress.

Sea state

The water surface is generally flat in the protected lagoon, becoming chop near the reef with small waves for surfkiting. Little impact from tides on the water state.

Sea currents

Currents are weak in the main lagoon thanks to the protection of the coral reef. However, be careful in the channel where they can accelerate with the outgoing tide.

Recommended kite size

Opt for sizes of 9 to 12 m² in medium trade wind, dropping to 7-9 m² on stronger days around 25 knots.

Weather & wind

The wind regime is dominated by the EAST trade winds, consistent and side shore at Anse du Belley. It reaches its maximum strength in the dry season with averages of 15-25 knots, and a current score of 60/100 indicates fair conditions despite a wind at 217.9° (almost southwest, less optimal).

Climate

The tropical climate of Guadeloupe offers warm temperatures year-round, around 25-30°C during the dry season from December to May. The rainy season from June to November is wetter but the wind remains reliable during the months indicated as optimal.

Depth

The depth is very shallow with a sandy bottom, you can stand up to several hundred meters from the shore in the lagoon. Near the reef, it gets deeper for wingfoiling.

Water temperature

The water remains warm year-round at 26-29°C, with no need for a wetsuit even in the cooler season.
