Riding conditions

The Aqualand spot works well with two distinct wind regimes. With the tramontane (northwest wind), the water surface smooths out and becomes ideal for windsurfing and freestyle. With the sea breeze (southeast to south), the spot becomes excellent for kitesurfing with interesting small waves.

Launching is done directly from the large sandy beach, with no major obstacles. The spot offers a wide navigation area of about 300 meters, allowing for good circulation among riders. The sandy bottom and gradual depth make access very easy and safe for all levels.

The orientation of the beach allows for good wind management depending on its direction. In tramontane, the wind is side-shore to side-on, smoothing the water surface. In sea breeze, the wind becomes side-shore to side-off, creating interesting small waves for waveriders.

With the tramontane, the water surface becomes very smooth, offering ideal conditions for freestyle and windsurfing. With the sea breeze, the spot develops small waves and a slight swell that make kitesurfing more dynamic and allow for good freestyle jumps.

Sea currents

The current at Aqualand is generally weak, making the spot very accessible. However, one must remain attentive to local variations in the water surface depending on wind conditions and tides.

Recommended kite size

The recommended kite sizes depend on the wind regime. With the tramontane, which can be strong, kites of 7 to 9 square meters are generally appropriate. With the more moderate sea breeze, kites of 9 to 12 square meters offer more versatility.

Weather & wind

The wind regime at Aqualand is dominated by two main winds. The tramontane, a northwesterly wind, blows regularly and can be very strong, particularly in winter and spring. The sea breeze, blowing from the southeast to south, brings milder conditions and creates interesting small waves. These two regimes offer nearly permanent sailing conditions throughout the year.
