The Kitesurfing Beach in Le Morne, in the Rivière Noire district of Mauritius, is nestled at the foot of the Morne mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This legendary spot attracts riders from around the world thanks to its immense and protected turquoise lagoon, perfect for kitesurfing with the mountain as a backdrop.
The lagoon offers a dedicated area for beginners with shallow water, while more experienced riders can head towards the choppier areas. Several schools like ION Club or Son of Kite offer courses and rentals on-site, in a friendly atmosphere.
It’s a place where kite, freeride, and waves mix easily, set in a paradise-like environment with a golf course and spa nearby.

The spot is exposed to the dominant east and southeast winds, which blow onshore in the beginner area of the lagoon, with a super flat and shallow water surface ideal for learning and freeriding. Moving 200 meters upwind, the wind becomes side-shore port, with a bit of chop perfect for jumps and freestyle, and at 400 meters from the shore, beautiful waves form due to the seabed.
Launching is done directly from the sandy beach, with a dedicated and wide take-off area in the main lagoon. Beginners stay in the kite lagoon to the south, safe and secure even in off or side-off wind, while advanced riders head out to the waves. Tides have little influence on the spot due to the constant depth of the lagoon, but always check the timings to avoid overly calm moments.
The wind is consistent year-round, with 300 days of possible navigation, particularly reliable from May to November. Prefer the morning light or late afternoon to ride with the most beautiful landscapes.
