Plage de Sérignan
France · Occitanie
The beach of Sérignan, in Occitanie in the Hérault, is a quiet spot favored by local riders for its wide sandy beach and easy access. Located between Béziers and Valras-Plage, it offers a natural setting with the dunes of Orpellières nearby, a protected Natura 2000 site. The club of Kitesurfers Indomptables du Sud is well established here, creating a friendly atmosphere.
It is an authentic place where one can ride without too much crowd, even in season. The conditions are solid all year round thanks to the Mediterranean climate, with regular winds from the south.

The beach of Sérignan is oriented east-west, which favors side-shore to side-on winds coming from the SE, SSE, S, SSW or SW, the best for riding without risking drifting away. The launch area is directly from the wide sandy beach, easy even for beginners, with a clear take-off zone in the center. The navigation area extends several hundred meters offshore, with a water surface that goes from flat to chop depending on the wind strength, and small waves on windy days.
No strong tides like in the Atlantic, but the coefficients slightly influence the water surface: more flat at high tide, a bit more chop at low tide. Be cautious in summer of the swimming area marked by buoys; kitesurfers generally navigate north or south of this area to avoid bathers. The spot is shallow near the shore, perfect for waterstarts, and you can stand for a long time thanks to the sandy plateau.
