The beach of La Grande Côte offers a long sandy beach for launching, but the take-off area is tidal, so it varies with the tides. The recommended winds come from the S or NW, which are side-shore relative to the west orientation of the beach, providing a choppy water surface with small waves.
The navigation area is wide thanks to the 2.5 km of beach, but avoid rocky areas exposed at low tide. Launching is done directly on the fine sand, easy for intermediate riders. In deep water, the surface remains navigable, but watch out for the rip currents and typical currents of the Atlantic coast.
Local feature: area allowed for land sailing and kites, but coexist with surfers and bathers in season. The best months are from April to October for consistent wind and mild temperatures.
