The spot mainly works with wind from the South to North in the lagoon, ideal for wingfoiling from mid-tide to high tide, with a side-shore or side-on water surface allowing for stable navigation. With East or South-East wind, you typically ride on the nearby Steir beach or in the lagoon at low tide for perfect flat freestyle, except in July-August when it is more crowded.
Launching is done directly from the sandy beach or lagoon, with a wide and clear take-off area on the sand. The navigation area extends in the sheltered lagoon for several hundred meters, or in the bay for experienced riders, but be cautious of fishing zones and boats in open water. Tides have a significant influence: at low tide, maximum flat in the lagoon with visible bottom; at high tide, the water rises and the surface becomes choppier near the ocean.
Local peculiarity: winds are often gusty in Brittany, typical of Atlantic depressions, so anticipate the gusts. For downwinds, schools use zodiacs to drop you in the water towards the Glénan islands 20 km away.
