Plage des Salins
France · Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
The Salins beach in Hyères, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, is nestled between Ayguade and Vieux Salins, lined with palm trees. It is a popular kitesurfing spot for its easy access despite a few small pebbles before the sand.
Open all year round, it offers a peaceful setting with parking under the palm trees and a dog-friendly area. Riders find a good balance between accessibility and solid wind conditions, especially with East wind.
Close to mythical spots like Almanarre, it often serves as a backup for calmer sessions or learning.

Salins beach works well with East wind (Marin), which blows offshore and creates a smooth water surface ideal for freestyle or speed. With West or Northwest wind, it is side-on to side-shore depending on the position, with waves rising quickly and a choppy sea, perfect for freeride or surfing but reserved for experienced riders.
The navigation area is in the protected bay, with a marked PNT channel to exit beyond 300m from the shore, mandatory for all. The launch area is directly from the sandy beach after the pebbles, and the take-off zone is marked between accesses 16 and 21 on Route du Sel in season (April-October), monitored by a Beach Marshall from June to September.
Outside the tourist season, the entire bay is accessible but stay in dedicated areas to avoid swimmers and windsurfers. The water surface varies little with the tides, remaining navigable, but be cautious of exits during strong offshore winds which complicate the return to shore.
