Plage du Lido
France · Occitanie
The Lido beach in Canet-en-Roussillon is the largest beach in Canet, stretching about 1.5 kilometers long. Located between the exit of Canet-en-Roussillon and the entrance to Saint-Cyprien-Plage, it runs alongside the departmental road and is characterized by a still wild environment despite the proximity of the road. The beach is very wide, exceeding 100 meters, with many natural dunes separating it from the road.
The southern area of the Lido beach, near the bridge, is reserved for kitesurfing. It is an accessible and well-structured spot, with free parking along the Lido and a pleasant pedestrian access in front of the thalassotherapy center. The northern area is more for windsurfing practitioners.

The Lido spot benefits from an excellent thermal regime that generally generates a south-east wind, creating waves of one to two meters high. The orientation is side-shore to side-on depending on the conditions. The water and its breakwater generate clean waves that allow beginners to progress easily by performing kickers.
Launching is done directly from the wide and clear beach. The navigation area is well defined to the south of the spot, near the bridge. In summer, conditions are generally milder and more regular, making it an excellent spot to start. In winter, the tramontane can blow very hard, pushing quickly offshore, making the spot more suitable for experienced riders.
Access to the spot is easy with immediate parking along the road and a very wide beach facilitating launching. The spot is less crowded than the nearby Pont des Basses.
