The Piémanson beach, located near Salin-de-Giraud in Camargue, is a vast stretch of sand nearly six kilometers west of the mouth of the Grand Rhône. It is a wild spot with dunes and rare plants, with no hotels or restaurants for miles around. Access is via a bumpy dirt track from Arles, and parking is limited from 6 AM to 10 PM in a regulated area.
The beach is shared between swimming, naturism on the left side up to the Rhône – the largest naturist beach in France – and kitesurfing in the authorized zones. Three kite schools offer lessons on-site, making it an ideal place to learn.
The atmosphere is 100% nature, with a fire station for safety, and it is one of the most beautiful spots in southern France for riders.

The spot mainly works with south and southwest winds, which provide an ideal side-shore orientation for riding on a flat to lightly choppy water surface. With Mistral (north), the orientation becomes onshore or even side-off, with powerful, gusty, and irregular wind that can double in strength between lulls and gusts, perfect for surfing but technical.
With southeast, it is side-off with beautiful waves but a very strong current due to the mouth of the Rhône, making navigation selective and not straightforward. The navigation zones are marked, with easy launching on the wide sand; dry take-off is possible thanks to the generous space. Be careful to stay within the authorized sectors to avoid the central swimming or naturist areas.
The water surface varies with the tides: flatter offshore, choppy with strong winds. The thermal winds from the west are side but rare and light. It is a selective wave spot with SE or Mistral, otherwise flat to chop for freeride and freestyle.
