Saint Lucia
Sainte-Lucie
Sandy Beach is a sheltered bay in Vieux Fort, in the south of Saint Lucia, right next to the airport runway. The fine sandy beach stretches for about 1.5 km and offers generous space for launching. It is a popular spot for kite schools due to its relaxed atmosphere and natural safety.
The bay is protected by a reef, creating a sailing area of about 1 km by 1 km, perfect for all levels. Locals and schools like The Reef Kite + Surf have been offering lessons here for years. There is also a lively beach bar in the evening.
The bottom is entirely sandy, with no rocks on the beach, and the water remains warm all year round.

The dominant wind comes from NE to E, creating a stable side-onshore from the left, ideal for progression. The sailing area is in the bay, downwind of the reef, with flat to chop inside and small perfect waves on the other side. Launching is easy on the wide sandy beach, with a good launch area.
The beach gently curves into the wind at the downwind end, which always brings you back to the shore in case of problems. Ample space on the water, about 1 km x 1 mile. Be cautious of the shallow reef in the middle of the bay. Conditions do not depend on tides, but with NE wind it’s flat, and E it’s slightly choppy. Perfect for jumps and wave riding with ocean swell up to 1.5-2 m.
Close to the airport, you can hear the planes but it does not impact the session. School on-site for rentals and lessons.
