Informations utiles
The spot works well with winds from west (W) and northwest (NW), which are side-shore relative to the north-facing beach. These directions bring chop to medium waves on the sandbanks. The riding area is between beach accesses 7 and 9, with breakwaters to respect.
Launching is done directly on the wide beach, but be careful of the sandbanks that make takeoff technical. Beyond the banks, the water is deep, ideal for jumps and freestyle. Strong current present, especially with westerlies. The water conditions vary from chop to medium waves on the banks, smoother offshore.
Parking at Plompe Toren, walk to the spot. Prefer high tide for more depth near the shore.
Ideal conditions with W to NW side-shore winds, 15-25 knots. High tide to avoid the banks near the shore.
Water conditions chop to medium waves on the sandbanks, with small waves from the North Sea breaking on the shallows. Beyond that, cleaner conditions for riding. Better waves in winter.
The current is strong, particularly with west winds in the kite area between posts 7 and 9. Tides influence the current, more pronounced near the breakwaters. Caution when exiting the sandbanks.
Plan for sizes of 9 to 12 m² for typical North Sea winds. Smaller in gusts, larger in mid-season.
The wind regime is reliable year-round, with dominant directions N, NW, W. The westerlies are the strongest, generating chop and medium waves. Typical strength of 15-25 knots in season, side-shore winds from the west.
Wind season: year-round, best in autumn and spring.
The climate is oceanic, with consistent winds year-round. The best months are from March to May and September to November for optimal conditions. Winter brings more waves, but cool temperatures around 5-10°C.
Mild summer with 15-20°C, but less reliable wind. Usable year-round thanks to the North Sea wind.
Profondeur faible sur les bancs de sable étendus, souvent moins d'un mètre près du bord. Profonde au-delà des hauts-fonds.
Cold temperatures: 8-12°C in winter and spring, 15-18°C in summer. Full wetsuit required year-round.
