Il-Bajja tal-Għadira
Malte
Il-Bajja tal-Għadira, located in the north of Malta in Mellieħa, is the largest sandy beach on the island. It offers a wide space and shallow water that attract families and water sports enthusiasts.
It is a kitesurf spot known by locals, especially outside the high tourist season. The atmosphere is relaxed with bars and equipment rentals nearby.
The Għadira nature reserve borders the beach, home to protected birds.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The spot works well with a west or northwest wind, which comes in side-on relative to the north-facing beach. Launching is easy on the fine sand, and the launch area is on the right side of the bay to avoid the crowd.
Navigation takes place in a large area offshore, with space for jibes and jumps. Be cautious of swimmers in summer: stay in the area dedicated to sliding sports. The water surface is generally flat to choppy depending on wind strength, with no big waves except during strong mistral.
No official kite school on site, but locals often ride. Check local rules as kitesurfing is prohibited in summer from June to September.
