Spiaggia Apani
Italie · Apulia
The beach of Apani, located on the Adriatic coast of Puglia near Brindisi, is a popular spot for its clear water and fine sandy beach. Close to the Torre Guaceto nature reserve, it offers a natural setting with a few small islands offshore that partially protect the sailing area. It is a favored place for riders due to its relaxed atmosphere and services such as kitesurfing schools and beach clubs.
Accessible from San Vito dei Normanni, the beach is narrow but has enough space for launching kites. Clubs like Guna Beach offer dining, water activities, and even wellness areas, making sessions more enjoyable after a good ride.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The Apani spot mainly works with east and northeast winds, called Tramontana and Grecale, which blow side-onshore from the southwest-facing beach. The water entry is easy thanks to the first few meters of water at waist height, even though the beach is narrow, leaving enough room for takeoff without hassle. The sailing area is wide and flat to choppy, with three small islands offshore that sometimes create sheltered areas or light waves in side-shore conditions.
There is no tidal influence on the conditions, with the bottom remaining constant. In strong winds around 12-28 knots, you can have side-on waves with a sandy bottom that allows for jumps and wave riding for the more experienced. Be careful to stay in the designated area to avoid bathers near the shore, especially in high season. Local schools offer courses for all levels, facilitating access for beginners.
