Spiaggia La Bufalara
Italie · Lazio
The beach of La Bufalara, located in Sabaudia in Lazio, is a long wild and deserted beach nestled between Lake Sabaudia and the sea, in the heart of the Circeo National Park. It is an authentic spot, away from the hustle and bustle, surrounded by dunes and Mediterranean forest. Access is by car via Via della Lavorazione, passing by a bison farm, until reaching the restaurant Le Sirene which marks the entrance to the beach.
La Bufalara offers an exceptional natural setting with plenty of space to progress. It is a spot favored by local riders for its stable sandy bottom and regular conditions. The place remains relatively quiet and preserved, ideal for those looking to get away from tourist spots.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
La Bufalara primarily works with southeast to southwest winds (Scirocco) and west to northwest winds (Maestrale). With the Maestrale, the wind is side-shore to side-on, offering stable and predictable conditions. With the Scirocco, the wind becomes side-off to offshore, generating hollower but also more powerful conditions.
The beach is very wide and sandy, providing a generous area for launching and taking off. The spot can generate significant waves in case of a strong depression, particularly with west winds. It is possible to do spectacular downwinders towards Circeo in Maestrale conditions, although the wind gradually weakens towards the south.
In summer, the spot becomes impractical due to the significant presence of bathers. The best time to ride remains May to October, with more reliable conditions in spring and autumn.
