The Mandriola beach is oriented westward, making it ideal for a side-shore wind from the NW (mistral), the local dominant wind that regularly blows strong, up to force 7 for two consecutive days. This wind arrives side-on from the right for a rider facing the sea, clean and consistent, perfect for smooth jibes and surfing on the long rolling waves.
Launching is easy everywhere on the fine sand, with a wide and obstacle-free take-off area. The navigation area extends several hundred meters offshore, thanks to shallow waters for dozens of meters, allowing you to ride close to the shore without risk. However, be cautious of the N which is gustier and harder to manage.
No strong tides in the Mediterranean, so the water surface remains stable: moderate chop on windy days, with side-shore waves for wavers. The salt pans to the north provide some protection from the mistral, making the spot sheltered compared to the nearby Capo Mannu. Local school like Sea Sport & Life in Mandriola for gear and lessons.

Currents are generally weak on this sheltered beach, typical of the Sardinian west coast. Mediterranean tides are minimal (less than 30 cm), with no major impact on navigation.
For the strong mistral, plan for sizes 7 to 11 m² depending on your weight and wind level. 9-11 m² for light days, 7-9 m² when it blows hard.
The wind regime is dominated by the mistral from the NW, which often blows up to force 7 during two consecutive days of sessions. It is a regular side-shore wind, ideal for kitesurfing, with consistent conditions on the west beach.
The N also arrives but is more gusty, less predictable for advanced maneuvers.
