Spiaggia Libera
Italie · Liguria
The libera beach of Albenga, located in Liguria near Alassio, is a popular spot for kitesurfing due to its unique natural configuration. This beach is part of one of the few floodplains in the region, created by the mouth of the Centa river, making it a multifaceted place.
The spot offers very varied conditions depending on the days and seasons: flat water inside the estuary, chop offshore, and the possibility of waves forming under specific conditions. It is a very frequented place by local riders, especially in summer, who appreciate this diversity of conditions.

Albenga is a spot with multiple faces depending on the wind conditions. With the Tramontana (north wind), the water remains flat inside the Centa estuary, making it an excellent playground for freestyle and slalom. The northeast wind creates a side-shore to side-on-shore configuration that is highly appreciated by riders.
With the Libeccio (southwest wind), conditions change radically: waves of 2 to 3 meters form offshore, but beware, an insidious shorebreak of about 1 meter forms at the shore, which requires experience to enter and exit the water. The wind becomes more variable and sometimes gusty with this direction.
Launching is generally done at the mouth of the Centa river in summer, which offers the best configuration for kitesurfing. In winter or with other wind directions, one can use the beaches further north near the LNI, but they are less ideal. The beach itself is composed of sandy mixed with gravel.
