The wind generally blows side-shore or side-on from the north-west, thanks to the Meltemi effect in summer which can reach up to 45 knots. The sandy beach is wide and perfect for launching and landing, with a navigation area just offshore where the water becomes choppy with small kickers near the shore.
The area is spacious but you need to manage your upwind well to avoid drifting too far, as the side wind can push offshore if you're not careful. Boat rescues are available from 10 AM to 8 PM via centers like Marmari Surf Club. In strong tram, small waves form, ideal for freestyle or beginner wave riding.
No significant tide in the Mediterranean, so the water remains constant, but be cautious of overpowered sessions on small kites. Local facilities allow rinsing gear between sessions.
Ideal conditions with 20-35 knots side-shore from the north-west, for well-powered sessions on small kites. Perfect when the Meltemi is pumping without being extreme.
The water surface is choppy with wind, and small waves or kickers form near the shore with strong Meltemi. World-class conditions for advanced freestyle, but not flat.
Currents are generally weak on this exposed beach, but can intensify with very strong winds drifting offshore. No significant tides, so no major impact on navigation.
Prefer sizes 7 to 12 m², with 9m as the average for typical winds of 15-35 knots. Bring smaller kites for days with 40+ knots.
The wind regime is dominated by the Meltemi, a strong north-west thermal in summer, with 20 to 45 knots on windy days. It blows side-shore on the south-east facing beach, with powerful gusts due to the venturi effect.
Windy all year according to high scores, but the peak is in July-August with 90% of rideable days.
The climate is Mediterranean with hot, dry summers, temperatures around 25-30°C even in strong winds. In winter, it gets cooler around 10-15°C, but the spot remains usable year-round according to the stats.
Best period from May to October for reliable Meltemi, with little rain and plenty of sunshine. The water stays warm for a long time, perfect for sessions in a shorty.
