Utah Beach

The beach of Utah Beach, located on the Normandy coast in France, is a historic spot known for its fine sand and peaceful atmosphere. It is a favorite place for riders due to its large open beach and easy access from the road.

The spot is suitable for all levels thanks to its generous space and variable conditions depending on the tides. Locals often come for quiet sessions in chop or small waves.

Close to the D-Day landing sites, it offers a historically rich setting with a view of the English Channel.

Location

Detailed information

The spot of Utah Beach works well with winds from the north to southeast (N, NNE, NE, ENE, E, ESE, SE), which are then side-shore or side-on relative to the west-facing beach. The launch is directly on the large sandy beach, with a tidal launch area that varies with the tide. At low tide, the water surface is very flat and you can stand very far out, ideal for beginners or ground tricks. At high tide, small waves of about 50 cm form near the edge, while the offshore remains in moderate chop. The navigation area extends several hundred meters offshore, with enough space to maneuver without disturbing swimmers in season. Be cautious of tidal variations that strongly influence depth and water quality; plan to ride between tides for more comfort.
