Lac de Jouarres, near Olonzac, is a recreational water body appreciated for its tranquil setting between the pine forest, vineyards, and the banks of the Canal du Midi. It is an easily accessible spot, often chosen by local riders when they want to kite without going to the coast.
The location remains quite compact for kitesurfing, with a lake-like atmosphere rather than a large body of water. It is mainly visited for the Tramontane, in conditions that are often a bit calmer than in Leucate when the wind is too strong there.

The spot mainly works with a NW wind, sometimes well established in the Tramontane corridor, but with less power than on the coast. The wind generally arrives gusty due to the surrounding relief, which requires active navigation and a bit of anticipation in settings and pressure.
The water surface is a lake, so there are no tides and conditions remain generally stable in water level. Navigation takes place on a rather flat water surface with sometimes a bit of chop when the wind strengthens. Launching takes place from a grass and pebble beach, with a fairly limited launch area, so it is important to keep space for rigging and launching properly.
The spot works well as a fallback solution when the coast becomes too violent, but one must remain vigilant as the space is more restricted than at the seaside. In summer, the monitored swimming area also requires strict adherence to the sectors dedicated to swimmers and other lake users.
