Marseillan Plage
The Honneur Beach at Marseillan Plage is the central beach of the seaside resort in Occitanie. It stretches from the port to the Rieu beach, with easy access from the Avenue de la Méditerranée and nearby parking.
It is a kitesurfing spot known to riders for its favorable wind conditions on the Mediterranean coast. In summer, it is monitored with a lifeguard station and equipped for people with reduced mobility thanks to the tiralos.
Close to the city center, it offers a lively atmosphere with restaurants and water activities, while remaining accessible year-round for kiting outside the summer season.

Informations utiles
The Honour Beach is oriented facing southeast, which favors a side-on to side-shore dominant wind from the northwest or west-northwest, typical of the Thau lagoon region. The water surface is generally chop with small short waves of 0.4 to 0.5 m according to local forecasts, influenced by the weak tides in the Mediterranean.
The navigation area is wide along the beach, but limited in summer by the marking of swimming areas where kitesurfing is prohibited except in specific spaces. Launching is done directly from the fine sand, easy and obstacle-free year-round, with a large area dedicated off-season for takeoff without hassle.
Be cautious of beachgoers in July-August; navigate wide towards the open sea or towards the port of Marseillan. Local schools like KITHAU offer organized outings to identify authorized areas. The wind is consistent but can pick up quickly, ideal for freeride or foil in clean side-shore conditions.
Ideal conditions are a side-on northwest wind at 18-25 knots, stable and thermal in the afternoon. Perfect for all levels with a rideable water surface.
The water surface presents a moderate chop with short waves of 0.4-0.5 m, perfect for stable freeride. Clean sandy bottom, without rocks.
Currents are generally weak on this beach exposed to the Gulf of Lion. Mediterranean tides are minimal (less than 30 cm), with no major impact on navigation.
However, be cautious near the port of Marseillan where a slight channel can create eddies.
Opt for kite sizes of 9 to 12 m² in the region's medium wind. 7-9 m² when it exceeds 25 knots, and 11-13 m² in light sessions.
The wind regime is dominated by the northwest wind, often called mistral in the region, which blows regularly at 15 to 25 knots side-on on the beach. It is reliable year-round, with more intense sessions in winter and autumn.
Main direction NW to W, average strength around 18 knots, increasing in the afternoon.
The Mediterranean climate of Marseillan offers hot summers around 28-32°C and mild winters around 10-15°C. Rainfall is rare, concentrated in spring and autumn, with more than 300 sunny days per year.
