Plage des Salines
France · Guadeloupe
Salines Beach, located in Gosier, Guadeloupe, is one of the must-visit destinations for kitesurfing enthusiasts in the French Caribbean. This beach stretches into a wide bank of fine white sand, swept by the constant trade winds and protected by a coral reef that calms the waves. It is a spot highly appreciated by kitesurfers for its versatile conditions and pleasant natural setting.
Accessible via a short dirt path along the mangrove, Salines Beach offers an ideal environment for progression or improvement. The regular presence of sargassum can affect swimming, but does not impact kitesurfing. It is a place where experienced riders and beginners coexist, each finding their suitable navigation area.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
Salines Beach works very well with a East wind that blows regularly. The wind is generally side-on relative to the beach, offering stable and predictable conditions. The calm and shallow waters in the bay are particularly ideal for beginners who wish to learn or improve their technique safely.
The spot has two types of waves: the Lémurien wave and the downwind wave, allowing for some variety depending on conditions. The shallow areas provide pleasant conditions for twintip with relatively flat zones despite the side wind. Launching is easy on the white sand, but be careful in the take-off area located among the coconuts – some snagging may occur during take-off. When the wind comes from the North, it is better to head to another spot, as conditions become less favorable.
