The spot at Lachanau beach is oriented for an effective side-shore wind from the south to southwest, whether thermal or depression. The launch is directly from the reserved kite beach, with a wide and obstacle-free take-off area thanks to the pine trees in the background. The navigation area is smaller than at the Hourtin port but perfectly suited, with a calm water surface without tides since it is a fresh water lake.
You can stand for a long time due to the shallow depth, even more than 100 meters from the shore, making the spot ideal for waterstarts and jibes. The Hourtin Kiteschool is on site to guide the sessions, and the breeze often picks up in the afternoon during the season. Be careful to stay in the dedicated area to avoid bathers in summer, even though it is away from the main beach.
The bottom is clean and sandy, without seagrass or rocks, for a smooth glide. The best sessions occur with a side-on wind from the south, which slightly digs the water surface without making it choppy.
