Informations utiles
The spot works well with a SW to W wind, which comes side-on to side-shore relative to the south-facing beach. At high tide, it is ideal for navigating on a flat to chop water surface with shallow areas. Launching is done directly from the sandy beach, but be careful of shallow areas that depend on the tides. The launch area is spacious on the sand, near the parking lot. At low tide, the water is very shallow, perfect for beginners or learning, but you need to move away for freeride. In summer, the spot is popular with schools and locals, with good attendance but space for everyone. Small swells are common, and the tide coefficient mainly influences the foil. Prefer the end of the day to avoid the crowd.
Ideal conditions are a SW to W wind of 15-25 knots, side-on, at high tide for optimal water conditions.
The water surface is flat to choppy, with shallow areas depending on the tides and a small swell that is always present. At high tide, it is more homogeneous for kiting.
Currents are generally weak, but they can strengthen near channels or with high tide coefficients. Tides have a strong impact on the spot, making navigation technical at low water.
Opt for kite sizes of 8 to 12 m² in the typical moderate wind of the spot. Go smaller for windy days.
The wind is steady and moderate, often from NW, SW, or W, with strengths around 10-20 knots in favorable conditions. It is a spot where side-shore wind dominates, ideal for freeride sessions.
The climate is mild oceanic due to the microclimate of the Fouras peninsula, with high sunshine on the Atlantic coast. Warm in summer, cold in winter, temperatures remain moderate throughout the year.
The depth is progressive and shallow, with a sandy bottom. You can stand for a long time at low tide, ideal for learning.
Water temperatures are warm in summer (18-22°C), and colder in winter (10-14°C).
