Location

Detailed information

The spot at Pointe de Groasguen works well with a side-shore wind coming from the W or NW, which enters perpendicular to the point and offers consistent power on the lagoon. In onshore from the southwest, the water gets a bit deeper but remains rideable. The launch is directly from the fine sandy beach at the point, with a wide and obstacle-free take-off area. The navigation area extends into the lagoon of the White Sea, vast and exclusive, protected from waves by the dune and the Glénan islands. At low tide, the lagoon partially uncovers, making the water flat to light chop perfect for learning or freestyle. At high tide, the water rises and the spot gains depth, ideal for more dynamic sessions with a foil or twintip. Local schools like Finistère Kite School often use a boat to take students to the nearby Concarneau Bay, but here at Groasguen, everything is done from the beach. Be cautious of tide variations that influence the size of the rideable area: plan to check the schedules to maximize space.
