Corbara

The Ghjunchitu beach in Corbara, Balagne, is located 5 km southwest of Île-Rousse. It is a secluded beach of 500 meters of fine sand, bordered by dense maquis and surrounded by mountains, with moderate attendance even in high season.

On the right side, some rocks and a small café offer mattress rentals. Access is via paid parking 250 or 600 meters away, via the D197 from Île-Rousse.

It is a spot shared between bathers, experienced kitesurfers, and windsurfers, especially in windy conditions, in a wild and pleasant setting.

Location

Detailed information

Ghjunchitu beach is oriented west, ideal for a mistral side-on or side-off from the northwest, which pushes out to sea or along the beach. The spot does not work often, the southwest does not come in as well as at nearby Algajola. The navigation area extends over the 500 meters of sand, with easy launching in the center, but be careful of the rocks to the north and south.

Launching is done on the wide beach, but it is crowded in season; choose the edges to avoid the crowd. In strong wind, waves form on the reef, but the window is narrow and risky for beginners. The water state is choppy to wavy depending on wind strength, with little influence from tides in the Mediterranean.

Local peculiarity: frequented by pro kiters and windsurfers, perfect for foil or wingfoil when the mistral blows strong. Check conditions as swimming is not recommended in strong wind.
