Informations utiles
The Nova Kite spot works well with side-shore winds coming mainly from the northeast to east, typical of Guadeloupe, which perfectly enter the sheltered bay. Access is by boat in a few minutes from the base in Jarry, to reach the shallow water area at îlet à l'Anglais.
The navigation area is marked by buoys for safety, ideal for teaching and freeride sessions. Launching is quick from the boat, and you can stand everywhere in the learning area, with a flat sandy bottom that gradually rises.
No major impact from tides on the water surface, which remains flat to light chop depending on wind strength. Beginners stay in the shallow area near the boat, while intermediates and advanced riders can explore the turquoise sandy area further out. Local feature: the spot is exclusive to the school, away from the hustle and bustle, with no traffic from other kiters.
Ideal conditions are side-shore NE to E winds between 15 and 25 knots, stable and without gusts, for a flat water surface perfect for all levels.
The water surface is generally flat in the teaching area, thanks to the shallow and protected water. Further out, it can become slightly choppy with strong winds, but without notable waves or reefs.
Currents are weak to negligible in the marked area of the spot, thanks to its sheltered location in the marine cul-de-sac. Tides have a low impact, but it is necessary to check the schedules for boat access.
For typical winds of 15-25 knots, plan for sizes of 9 to 12 m² for average weight riders. Beginners opt for 12 m², intermediates 10-11 m², and advanced riders go down to 9 m² in strong winds.
The wind regime is dominated by northeast trade winds, regular and reliable, with typical strengths of 15-25 knots in the dry season. The best months are January, February, March, April, May, June, August, September, October, November, and December, where the wind score often exceeds 55/100.
The climate in Guadeloupe is hot tropical all year round, with average temperatures around 25-30°C. The dry season from December to May offers more stable conditions, while the rainy season from June to November can bring passing showers but often stronger winds.
The water is shallow as far as the eye can see in the teaching area, with foot everywhere and a clean sandy bottom. Offshore, the depth gradually increases without critical areas.
The water temperature varies little, around 26-29°C all year round. A short lycra is sufficient in the dry season, a 3/2 neo in the wet season for more comfort.
