Useful information
The spot works well with winds from southeast to southwest, coming in side-on or side-shore relative to the south-facing beach. The water is calm and flat near the shore due to the shelter of the archipelago, with a slight chop offshore when the wind picks up. Launching is done directly from the sandy beach of the landingsplads, wide and obstacle-free, and takeoff is easy on the adjacent grass or sand.
The navigation area extends between the coast of Funen and Svelmø Island, with a large shallow area extending several hundred meters from the shore, perfect for freestyle or learning. Tides do not significantly influence conditions, the water remains usable in all circumstances. Watch out for small small to medium waves in strong winds, but overall it is a flat to light chop spot.
Free parking on site, toilets available, and direct access without difficult paths. Prefer morning sessions to avoid occasional maritime traffic towards Faaborg.
Ideal conditions are south-southwest side-shore winds at 12-20 knots, for a flat water surface and consistent power. Avoid pure onshore which creates chop.
The water state is generally flat to light chop near the beach, evolving into small small waves in the center of the area. The shallow water promotes a stable ride for all levels.
Currents are weak in the area due to the shelter of the South Funen archipelago. The Baltic tides are minimal, less than 30 cm of variation, with no major impact on navigation.
However, be cautious of a slight flow near the passes between the islands during strong winds.
Opt for kite sizes of 9 to 12 m² in typical conditions, going down to 7-9 m² in strong winds, and up to 13-15 m² on light days.
The prevailing winds come from the southeast to southwest, with average gusts of 15-25 knots in the active season. The regime is more reliable in autumn and winter, influenced by Atlantic depressions sweeping across the Baltic Sea.
