Informations utiles
The spot offers two distinct areas: the inner lagoon to the south with flat and very shallow water, perfect for beginners, and the open northern area with more pronounced chop for intermediates. Launching is easy on the fine sand, ideally at the center of the long beach where take-off is simple even though it fills up quickly in high season.
The side-on to side-shore winds from the NW (Maestral) or NE are the best, blowing cross to the beach from the sea. The lagoon remains flat even with strong winds, while the open sea chops quickly. Independent of tides, the spot always works thanks to its shallow depth for several hundred meters.
A dedicated kite zone is monitored by the school with a safety boat. Avoid the edges where swimmers flock in summer; stay in the kite zone for a smooth ride.
The ideal directions are NW (Maestral) and NE (Bora), side-on to side-shore, with 15-25 knots for optimal water conditions in the lagoon.
The water is crystal clear and shallow in the lagoon, transitioning to chop in open sea. Ideal conditions for freeride and freestyle in flat water, with light waves possible under Bora.
Currents are weak in the protected lagoon, with no notable tidal impact. In the open area, they remain moderate but watch out during strong Bora.
Opt for sizes 9 to 12m² in moderate Maestral, going down to 7-9m² under strong Bora. Beginners prefer 10-12m² in the shallow lagoon.
The dominant wind is the Maestral from the NW, light to moderate in summer, often between 15-25 knots. The Bora from the NE, rarer and stronger with gusts from Velebit, boosts freeride and freestyle sessions.
The Mediterranean climate of Nin offers warm summers from May to September with daytime temperatures around 25-30°C. Mild winters rarely drop below 10°C, making the spot usable year-round, especially in spring and autumn to avoid crowds.
The depth is gradual and very shallow in the sandy lagoon, with foot depth for 200-300m. The bottom is 100% sand with no rocks.
In summer (June-August), the water reaches 22-25°C. Spring and autumn around 16-20°C, winter temperatures 12-15°C.
