The wind data shown here comes from ERA5 (via Open-Meteo) over 4 years, reprocessed to reflect realistic conditions.
👉 Average wind has been calibrated to avoid the usual underestimation of models.
👉 Gusts have been corrected by a median ratio to avoid unrealistic extreme values.
👉 Each day is summarized by the median wind (P50) observed during useful hours (8am–8pm), then classified into wind ranges.
👉 The weighted mode mixes average wind and gusts to best reflect felt wind.
The main wind comes from the east and southeast in a side-on direction relative to the northeast-facing beach, ideal for freeride, freestyle, and wakestyle. It picks up around noon, peaks in the afternoon until sunset with speeds of 15 to 25 knots, sometimes stronger for high jumps.

Best sessions at low tide and mid-tide for smooth water. It's an excellent stop for downwinders from Jericoacoara, with local schools offering shuttles and pickups by buggy. Be aware that access requires a suitable vehicle via the beach or dunes, about 30 minutes north of Jeri.
The ideal conditions are east-southeast winds of 18-25 knots side-on, at low tide or mid-tide for flat water and high jumps.
The water is generally choppy in the ocean but becomes flat in the lagoon at low tide and mid-tide, ideal for jumps and tricks. The bottom is mostly sandy with some mangrove areas to respect.
Currents are generally weak in the lagoon but can intensify near the exit to the ocean or during downwinders. The tides have a moderate range, significantly influencing the navigable space.
Opt for kite sizes of 9 to 12 m² on average for winds of 15-25 knots; 7-9 m² for strong days, 10-13 m² when it's lighter.
The dominant trade winds blow from the east and southeast, steady and strong at 15-25 knots, increasing in strength in the afternoon. This pattern ensures reliable conditions almost every day in the high season.
