Curimãs benefits from a cross-shore wind coming from the east, making it a very accessible spot. The wind blows regularly and predictably, particularly in the afternoon. The launch and landing area is very spacious due to the large sandy bay.
At low tide, the water surface becomes very flat, ideal for freestyle and freeriding. At high tide, medium-sized waves appear, offering more variety for riders. The tidal range is significant, meaning that conditions change significantly between the two tidal states. In the morning, conditions are generally softer, while the afternoon brings more consistent wind and more pronounced waves.
The ideal conditions at Curimãs occur with a wind of 25 to 35 knots coming from the east, providing a perfect side-shore angle. These conditions are regular from June to January. The afternoon is generally the best time to ride, when the wind has established well. A medium tide is ideal for combining a good water surface and accessible waves.
The water conditions at Curimãs range from very flat to choppy depending on the tide and time of day. At low tide, the water is very flat, almost wave-free, making it an excellent playground for freestyle and freeriding. At high tide, small to medium-sized waves appear, offering more dynamics. In the morning, conditions are generally calmer, while the afternoon brings more chop and waves due to the strengthening wind.
The current at Curimãs is generally weak to moderate. However, one must remain vigilant near channel areas where the current can become stronger. The tidal range is significant, meaning that sailing conditions change notably between low and high tide. At low tide, the water is very shallow in some areas, while at high tide, the water expands and becomes more navigable.
With a steady wind of 25 to 35 knots, the recommended kite sizes are 7 to 9 m² for most riders. Lighter or more experienced riders may use 7 m² kites, while heavier or beginner riders may prefer 9 m². In case of lighter wind in the early day, a 10 or 11 m² kite may be useful.

The depth at Curimãs is gradual with a sandy bottom. At low tide, one can stand very quickly, sometimes just a few decimeters to a few meters from the shore. At high tide, the depth increases gradually, allowing for navigation further from the shore. The maximum accessible depth remains moderate, making the spot safe for beginners and intermediates.
The water at Curimãs is warm year-round, around 30°C. No wetsuit is necessary, and a simple pair of swim shorts is sufficient. The temperature remains stable even during the dry season (June to January), making the spot comfortable for long sessions.
