Strand van Wenduine
Belgium · Flandre-Occidentale
The Strand van Wenduine is a long sandy beach located on the North Sea coast in West Flanders. It is a popular spot for Belgian kitesurfers due to its generous space and clean sand.
The beach offers a dedicated kite area with enough room to take off and land safely. Locals often come here for quiet sessions, especially outside the summer season.
Access is easy by car from Brugge via the N9 and N307, with parking nearby.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The beach is oriented northwest, which means that northwest winds are onshore and can be challenging for takeoff, while west or southwest winds are side-on or side-shore, ideal for smooth navigation. The riding area is about 350 meters long, always sufficient except in pure northwest wind.
Launching is done directly from the soft sandy beach, with no obstacles, but at low tide shallow areas and shells appear, making the water surface flat to choppy. At high tide, the beach narrows to about 60 meters wide, but remains usable with a space reserved for sliding sports.
Takeoff occurs in the marked kite zone, with plenty of space for ground maneuvers. Watch out for swimmers in summer and boats that sometimes pass offshore. The spot is generally flat, with average waves in the North Sea depending on the swell.
