The spot of Strand Le Zoute works particularly well with a SW or W/SW wind, which is onshore relative to the north-facing beach. These directions bring a steady wind of 15 to 25 knots, ideal for freeride and big air, with occasional gusts up to 30 knots in spring and autumn.
Launching is done directly from the wide sandy beach, with a clear take-off area but be cautious of swimmers in summer. The riding area extends along the coast, staying vigilant about breakwaters and fishing zones. The water is generally choppy, more turbulent in strong winds, and can become flat with well-established winds.
Prefer low tide for less disturbed wind by coastal constructions and better launching space. At high tide, the water rises on the beach but the current intensifies. Sessions are short in winter due to the cold, but consistent year-round with the right wind.
Ideal conditions are an SW onshore wind at 15-25 knots, stable and without excessive gusts. Spring and autumn offer the best windows with manageable water conditions.
The water state is typically choppy with moderate to strong chop from onshore winds, and short waves of 0.5-1 m in the North Sea. With well-oriented wind, flatter areas form near the shore.
Conditions vary with the tide: more turbulent at high water, with possible ground swells on stormy days.
Currents are generally moderate along the coast, but they intensify significantly at high tide near channels and breakwaters. It is important to stay vigilant when navigating downwind to avoid being swept towards nearby port areas.
Tides have an amplitude of about 4-5 meters, strongly influencing the available space on the beach.
Opt for kite sizes of 9 to 11 m² in medium wind of 15-20 knots, and 7 to 9 m² for stronger days at 20-25 knots. In light summer winds, go up to 12 m².
The dominant wind regime comes from the southwest, blowing steadily from the North Sea with average strengths of 15-25 knots. In spring and autumn, sessions are the most reliable, with regular onshore winds.
In summer, expect more stable winds of 10-20 knots, while winter can see violent gusts exceeding 30 knots.
