Silver Rock Beach
Barbados · Christ Church
The Silver Rock beach, located on the south coast of Barbados in the parish of Christ Church, is the main spot for kitesurfing and lessons on the island. With its 350 meters long, it offers some of the best conditions for kite and windsurfing, without being crowded by regular bathers.
Easy to access just 10 minutes from the airport, it attracts friendly locals and kite schools like Brian Talma's. It is a safe and friendly place to progress or have fun in the waves.
Close to Silver Sands, it shares a relaxed atmosphere typical of the Barbadian south coast.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The spot works ideally with east to east-southeast winds, either cross-shore or side-on relative to the south-facing beach. The constant trade winds blow from 90° to 110°, with a pick-up in the late morning for a peak in the afternoon. The navigation area extends along the beach, with a direct launch on soft white sand, without rocks in the center.
For beginners in lessons, we stay on the inside protected area, while intermediates and advanced go out towards the reef for kickers and wave riding. Beware of the aggressive shore-break at high tide, which makes launching technical. Safe take-off thanks to the generous space and professional schools on site.
The water is choppy near the shore with small waves, and transitions to medium waves (1-3m) on the outer reef when there is swell. No major changes with the tides, but low tide exposes the shallow reef (50cm). Downwind towards Silver Sands to extend the session.
