The Safety Bay lagoon, located in Safety Bay, Western Australia, is a world-renowned spot for its ultra-flat water like a mirror. Protected by low sand dunes, it offers undisturbed sea breeze and attracts international pros all summer long. It's a lively place where freestyle carousels are constantly spinning.
The spot is divided into zones: the inner lagoon for intermediates and experts, and the ocean side for beginners with its sandbar. Very busy in season, local rules must be respected to avoid collisions. Kite and windsurf schools operate here, with parking at the Yacht Club.
Friendly yet competitive atmosphere, perfect for progressing in wakestyle or freestyle on smooth water.

In The Pond, the innermost area, the water is mirror flat up to the upwind area of freestyle carousels; avoid jumping if riders are coming down. Launching is easy on the sandy beach near the Safety Bay Yacht Club, with simple takeoff but watch for frequent kite crashes.
At low tide, the sandbar to the south offers a waist-deep area for beginners who can walk back; at high tide, everything remains navigable without restriction. On the ocean side, flat water with small chop, protected from swell. Dedicated zones: freestyle upwind, middle at risk of falls, and downwind reserved for windsurfers. Respect etiquette: priority to carousels, no jumps over kite lines. Many launch here for freeride towards Penguin Island.
Ideal conditions with sea breeze 18-25 knots from SW to W, cross-on for perfect flat and controlled boost. Viable year-round, but summer for pros.

Currents are weak in the lagoon due to natural protection. Caution near the channel to Penguin Island where they can accelerate. Moderate tides do not impact navigability, spot usable all day.
Opt for sizes 9 to 12m² in average sea breeze; 7-9m on strong days, 11-13m in light morning.
The wind regime is dominated by the daily sea breeze, consistent at 20-25 knots in the afternoon, especially from SW, W, S. Reliable year-round, with peaks in summer when pros train. Few disturbances, perfect for long sessions.
Mild Mediterranean climate in Western Australia, with hot summers of 25-35°C (Dec-Feb) and mild winters around 15-20°C. Dry and windy season from October to April, ideal for kite; rare rains in winter but always reliable wind.
