The beach of Rades mainly works with wind coming side-on or side-onshore depending on the dominant direction of the day. With a northwest wind, one is generally on a more reassuring side-on component for navigation, while an east wind is more direct on the spot and can make launching more exposed. The spot faces east, so the best settings occur when the wind maintains a good lateral component.
The water surface of the Gulf of Tunis is generally quite easy to read, with navigation often cleaner than in open sea.
