Plage Flots Bleus
France · Nouvelle-Aquitaine
The Flots Bleus beach is located in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, extending from the Grande Plage towards the Pointe de Sainte-Barbe. It is a small sandy beach at the foot of the hill, with a pleasant promenade on the heights and a view of the bay.
It is popular off-season for kitesurfing in a designated area, provided that the monitoring hours are respected. At low tide, it extends a bit more, but it shrinks significantly at high tide.
Close to the city center, it offers easy access with parking along Boulevard Thiers, although it is paid during the season.

The Flots Bleus beach is oriented facing west towards the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, which favors side-on or side-shore winds from the northwest or west, the most common on the Basque coast. East or northeast winds are also usable for clean navigation, but beware of urban gusts near the Sainte-Barbe hill.
The launch is done directly from the sandy beach, wider at low tide where you can stand for a long time. The take-off area is marked off-season, usually to the right of the beach towards the point. Navigation in the bay while staying outside the swimming zones marked by the checkered signs, especially off monitoring.
At high tide, the beach shrinks significantly and the water surface becomes chop with short waves due to the west or southwest swell. At low tide, it is more flat to chop near the shore, ideal for training. Avoid the summer monitoring period when kitesurfing is prohibited; off-season, it is the perfect fallback spot for the bay.
