The beach of L’Île-Rousse, located in Balagne on the northwest coast of Corsica, offers fine sand and a view of the Pietra islands. It is a popular spot among locals for its easy access and clear water.
Close to the port and the lively town, it allows for peaceful sessions even during the tourist season. The winds of Balagne are often generous, especially during Mistral periods.
Ideal for combining kiting and strolling, with restaurants just steps away to refuel after the session.

The beach of L’Île-Rousse is oriented southeast, making it ideal for side-on west and southwest or side-shore winds, typical of Libeccio or offshore flows. The water state is generally choppy with some swell when the wind picks up, but remains navigable even at low tide thanks to a wide sandy launch area.
The navigation area extends about 500 meters from the shore, with easy take-off on the clear beach, without major obstacles. Be cautious of fishermen near the adjacent port; stay offshore to avoid boats. In case of strong SW wind, as often forecasted with gusts up to 40 knots, the water state becomes rough but the side-off orientation allows for good upwind sailing.
The best times are in the morning or late afternoon for a milder thermal, and high tide facilitates launching by widening the safe area. Experienced riders enjoy challenging sessions under Mistral, while intermediates find their place with 15-25 knots side-on.
